June Photo Challenge Day 10

Hello Everyone!

Today's photo comes from a wedding I shot last year at the Salt Lake Temple.

These sassy poses were inspired by the two models in gold on the left. The bride and groom saw the amazingness of what was happening and quickly followed suit with their own sassy-ness. The resulting photo is, as you can see, priceless.

June Photo Challenge Day 9!

Hello Everyone,

Recently I had a family shoot with some great people that I've known for almost a decade. They're wonderful people, and I love taking photos for them because they're always so happy and willing to try anything. Last April I got the chance to meet the newest (at that point) member of their clan and take some adorable one year old pictures for them.

I was transferring photos from my old computer to my new computer last night (I'm only about halfway done) and decided to take another look at those photos to see if I'd missed anything the first time around.

   Here's what I found:

Haha! This photo cracks me up because it made me remember that, in order to get this little cutie into the basket we had to bribe her with a bowl full of yogurt bites. You can tell she was super excited!

Totally worth it though (especially for Ginny!):

JUne Photo Challenge Day 8

Hello Everyone!

Today's photo comes from John. I used to teach John when I was a preschool teacher. His Dad heard I was a photographer and I've had several photo shoots with John since then.

At first, getting John to smile (or to look at me) was a bit of a challenge. But once he and I got to know each other (outside of school) this cutie was more than willing to share his beautiful smile with the camera.

I just updated my online portfolio page! Click this link to check it out.

June Photo Challenge Day 7

Hello Everyone!

Today's photo comes from Melissa and Conner. I worked with Melissa down in St. George for a long time, and she also happens to be Lacie's really good friend (and she's on a mission like Lacie!).

This is a photo of Melissa and her boyfriend Conner, taken in a river bed in St. George around 2013. I remember that day was quite cold, and because of that Melissa and Conner's noses are a pretty gnarly shade of red in some of the photos. I re-discovered this photo last week while looking over the photos from this shoot again, and it's become one of my favorites! I love effortless, true photos like this. As Paul Caponigro says “It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.”

June Photo Challenge Day 6

Hello Everyone!

Today's photo is a special one. Several months ago my sister Lacie left to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I miss her very much. Before she left she asked me to take some photos to celebrate her mission. I got several wonderful shots of my amazing sister but this one is my favorite.

Lacie saw a similar picture on pinterest, and with some help from my friend Jennifer (who let me borrow the vintage scrabble tiles), voila! A perfectly wonderful photo was born. I miss this pretty lady on a daily basis, but I also know that there is no place she'd rather be. And no place where she could be doing better work.

Do you have a missionary leaving soon? I offer missionary shoots for a negotiable price. Meaning that I will accept whatever you can pay, because paying for a mission is expensive enough. Contact me anytime to set up a shoot!

June Photo Challenge Day 5

Hello Everyone!

Today's photo comes from Bob and Janae (aka, Ginger's parents). Since I live with them, I tend to take a lot of pictures of them. Which is both awesome (for me), and occasionally creepy (for them).

This photo was taken last summer while we were out and about somewhere. Having had a front row seat to their relationship for the last year I feel I am an expert on the subject, and can say with confidence that if there is one photo that encapsulates the way they feel about each other, this is it.

This is a photo that I got absentmindedly one day, and forgot existed until a few days ago.

What do you guys think? Isn't it lovely?

June Photo Challenge Day 4

Hello Everyone!

Today's photo comes from an engagement shoot for my other best friend. (The adult one)

This photo shoot took place last year. Jackie's fiance Mike was a little worried about being awkward in front of the camera so we did a practice shoot and I was able to grab this shot. While it didn't end up being used, this remains one of my favorite photos of them. Also, it turns out Mike had nothing to worry about.

June Photo Challenge Day 3

Hello Everyone!

Today's photo comes from my best friend Graham.

Graham loves going to the playground. Graham also love dump trucks, and he loves throwing things. Combine all three and we have this masterpiece of a photo. This was taken a year ago, just after Graham turned 2. Spending time at the playground is one of our favorite things to do together, and throwing wood chips at me is one of his favorite things to do with me. With a smile like that, how can I ruin his fun? Answer: I can't. It's impossible for me to say no.

Old Photo Challenge For June

Hello Everyone!

I'm working on transferring my photo files from my old computer to my new computer, a task that I have discovered takes too long, and is quite boring. In order to remain sane I've started to re-visit photos I've taken over the years, which has led me to some photo gems that I had either overlooked or forgotten about.

After that happened several times I decided that posting them here would be a great way to share some fun memories with everyone! So, for the next 30 days I'm planning on posting one photo a day, with two conditions: 1. They have to have been taken more than a year ago, and 2. They can't have been featured on my blog before.

Yesterday I posted this photo of my niece Squishy :

Taken right after she had finished playing in the sprinklers, I remember that right after this photo was taken she got tangled up in the blinds on my door, and I had to cut her out of them. The blinds, sadly, did not make it.

Today's photo comes courtesy of an old friend and her husband:

Katie and I have been friends since high school, and we both moved back to St. George around the same time a few years ago (this photo was taken in 2012, I believe). I hadn't photographed anyone in a long time and asked Katie if she and her husband CJ would be willing to help me out and give me some practice. They complied with amazing results. This gorgeous shot was overlooked at first, though I'm not sure why. But I'm glad we can enjoy it now!

Check back tomorrow for more forgotten photos!
